Maruti New SUV 2025: Name Announced, Launch Date 3rd September, Price Out

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to make a big splash in the SUV market once again. The company’s much-awaited new SUV, earlier known by its codename Y17, will officially be launched on 3rd September 2025. Ahead of the event, its name has already been revealed online, giving enthusiasts an early peek at Maruti’s next big product.

Official Name Revealed

Until now, the upcoming SUV was widely referred to as the Maruti Escudo, but a leak from Maruti Suzuki’s own website confirmed the final name. The SUV will be called Maruti Victorris. The detail surfaced in Google search snippets, and though unintentional, it has confirmed what fans had been waiting for—Maruti’s newest addition to its SUV lineup.

Positioned Between Brezza and Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki plans to sell the Victorris through its Arena dealerships, placing it strategically between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. This gives the company a strong competitor in the compact SUV category.

The SUV is built on Suzuki’s Global-C platform, the same foundation used by the Grand Vitara. By sharing this platform, Maruti can keep production costs under control while still offering advanced features and proven technology. It also allows Victorris to borrow equipment and capabilities already seen on the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.

Dimensions and Rivals

The Victorris is expected to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara’s 4,345 mm length. This size puts it directly in the league of strong competitors like the Hyundai Creta (4,330 mm) and Kia Seltos (4,365 mm).

With the upcoming 2026 Kia Seltos facelift, along with refreshed versions of the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti’s new SUV will need to stand out in terms of space, features, and value for money.

Engine and Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the Maruti Victorris will carry forward the tried-and-tested engines from the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The lineup will include:

  • A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 103 PS and 139 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. An optional Suzuki AllGrip AWD system will also be offered.
  • A 1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain delivering a combined output of 115.5 PS, matched with an e-CVT gearbox. This version will attract buyers looking for higher fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness.
  • A CNG variant, generating 88 PS in CNG mode, further broadening the SUV’s appeal for cost-conscious and eco-aware drivers.

Final Thoughts

With the official name revealed and the launch date set for 3rd September 2025, the Maruti Victorris is already building strong anticipation. Positioned smartly between Brezza and Grand Vitara, and armed with multiple engine choices including petrol, hybrid, and CNG, it promises to be a versatile and competitive option.

As the compact SUV space heats up with rivals like Creta, Seltos, and Kushaq, Victorris could be Maruti’s ace card for 2025. For anyone eyeing a stylish yet practical SUV with multiple fuel choices, this upcoming launch is worth waiting for.
