Vietnam-based EV maker VinFast has officially stepped into the Indian automobile market with the launch of its two electric SUVs – VF6 and VF7. Both models will be assembled locally at the company’s Tamil Nadu facility, and bookings are already open. To strengthen its presence, VinFast has also opened showrooms in Chennai and Surat, with an ambitious plan of reaching 35 outlets across 27 cities by the end of this year.
VinFast VF6: Compact Yet Capable
The VF6 is designed as a compact SUV with a stylish profile and practical size, making it a good option for urban buyers. It comes in three trims – Earth, Wind, and Wind Infinity – with prices starting at ₹16.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and going up to ₹18.29 lakh.
Under the hood, the VF6 runs on a 59.6kWh battery pack paired with a single motor and front-wheel-drive setup. This powertrain delivers 204hp and 310Nm of torque, which is more than enough for daily city drives as well as highway runs. The car promises a certified driving range of 468 km on a single charge, which puts it among the higher-range EVs in its segment. With fast charging, the battery can be topped up from 10% to 70% in just 25 minutes. A 2,730mm wheelbase and 190mm ground clearance make it practical for Indian road conditions.
VinFast VF7: The Flagship SUV
Positioned above the VF6, the VF7 is a larger and more powerful SUV that starts at ₹20.89 lakh and goes up to ₹25.49 lakh for the top Sky Infinity variant.
This model is powered by a 70.8kWh battery, available in both single-motor and dual-motor AWD versions. The dual-motor setup is particularly impressive, producing 350hp and 500Nm torque, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. On the efficiency side, the VF7 offers up to 532 km of range per charge. Charging times are equally fast, with the battery reaching 70% in only 24 minutes using a rapid charger.
Warranty and Extra Benefits
VinFast is backing its cars with some of the most generous warranty packages in the market. The VF7 and its battery pack come with a 10-year / 2,00,000 km standard warranty. The VF6 gets 7 years / 2,00,000 km coverage, with the battery covered for 10 years.
Early buyers also get additional perks such as free charging at VGreens stations until July 2028, three years of complimentary maintenance, and even a panoramic sunroof curtain at no extra cost. These benefits make ownership far more attractive, especially for those shifting to EVs for the first time.
Interior Themes and Design Choices
VinFast has also paid attention to cabin design by offering unique interior themes. The VF6 Earth trim comes with an all-black cabin, while the Wind trim gets a dual-tone mocha brown and black finish. The VF7 Earth trim carries a sporty black theme, whereas premium trims like Wind and Sky bring in a more luxurious mocha brown and black combination.
