Pravaig Defy EV: 90.2kWh Battery, 500Km Range and 402bhp Power Explained

India’s EV market has been buzzing with new launches, but few have managed to grab attention the way the Pravaig Defy has. Built by Bengaluru-based startup Pravaig, this all-electric luxury SUV aims to blend futuristic design with real-world performance. First shown in late 2022, it is now gearing up for launch, and expectations are running high.

Design That Commands Attention

At first glance, the Defy looks like something straight out of a premium global SUV lineup. Its sharp profile with a sloping roofline gives it a coupe-like stance, while the panoramic sunroof and sleek LED headlamps add a sophisticated edge. The rear is dominated by a full-width LED light bar, which makes it instantly recognizable at night.

Pravaig hasn’t ignored functionality either. With a 234mm ground clearance, the Defy is well-prepared for Indian roads and even light off-road adventures. The flush-fitting door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels complete the upmarket look, ensuring the SUV feels as modern as it does capable.

Interior That Feels Like a Lounge

Step inside and the SUV makes a strong case for being more than just a vehicle—it’s an experience. The cabin is centered around a massive 15.6-inch infotainment screen, paired with a digital driver’s display and a high-end sound system.

Sustainability has also been given importance. The upholstery is finished in vegan leather made from recycled materials, proving that luxury and responsibility can go hand in hand. Comfort is top-notch too, with electrically adjustable ventilated captain seats designed for long-distance journeys.

Power and Range That Impress

The numbers speak for themselves. A 90.2kWh battery pack feeds power to a dual-motor setup, producing 402bhp and a massive 620Nm of torque. With all-wheel drive on board, the Defy sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, rivaling performance-oriented SUVs. Top speed is claimed at 210 km/h, while the driving range crosses the 500 km mark on a single charge—enough to take on long highway runs without anxiety.

Charging and Market Position

Charging times have been optimized with fast-charging support. The Defy can go from 0 to 80% in about 30 minutes, making it practical for daily use and long trips alike.

As for pricing, Pravaig is expected to keep the Defy in the ₹25–30 lakh range (ex-showroom). That puts it in direct competition with the likes of the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Tata Nexon EV. However, with its combination of size, luxury features, and raw performance, the Defy is targeting buyers who want something a little more aspirational.

Final Thoughts

The Pravaig Defy is more than just another EV—it’s a statement about how far Indian automotive engineering has come. From its bold design and luxury-filled interior to its powerful battery and long range, the SUV positions itself as a serious challenger in the premium electric space. If Pravaig delivers on its promises, the Defy could very well set new benchmarks for homegrown electric SUVs in 2025.
